Configuration Wizard
The Configuration Wizard is designed to perform a complete step-by-step configuration of the application. The Wizard automatically starts when the application is launched for the first time, or it can be initiated manually from the Setup menu:
Language Selection
To choose the interface language, follow these steps:
» in the Language Selection window click on the small arrow button. Drop-down list appears;
» in the drop-down list, select the required language;

While working with the Setup Wizard you can skip one of the stages by clicking on the Skip button, or stop its work completely by choosing the Cancel button.
The Hardware Wizard helps setting up video- and audio devices, checking the correctness of choice and compatibility of all the components.
During the first setup the system automatically determines availability of the necessary video, audio and playback devices. After that the device selected by the system is displayed as a default one in the selection bar.
If the work of the device meets the testing criteria, choose Next and follow the directions of the system step-by-step.
If the device selected by the system by default doesn’t work as it is described in the Test manual, choose Back and you return to the previous dialog window where you choose another device from the drop-down list offered by the system.
When testing the microphone, tick the echo cancellation option if you use the speakers and the AGC if you want the system to adjust the microphone volume automatically.
Make sure all the necessary devices are connected to the computer and meet the system requirements.
While connecting the web cameras, make sure you have all the necessary software (the drivers) installed. For that use the enclosed web camera manual.
Please note: If you need to install (re-install) the drivers for audio or video devices, you need to close the application first. Make sure the icon disappears from the system tray when you close the application:
Network Wizard enables selection of network connection type for the optimum utilization of channel resources, and tests the connection of the application with the videoconferencing server.
At the final stage the system offers you to establish the Optional Preferences for further utilization of the application.
Upon completion of the audio and video devices setup and the network connections tests the TrueConf Client application is ready for use.
For further use of the application you are offered to get authorized in the system.
Every step of the configuration process can be made separately from the corresponding Setup menu entry.
Hardware Setup
While not in a conference, you can change your hardware setup options. Choose the option Setup > Hardware. Here you can choose and configure video capture, audio capture and audio playback devices.
Here you can select and change the sources of video and audio signal, and the playback device. Testing and setup of the selected device are performed with the help of the Test button.
The devices selected by the system are marked as default ones in the selection bar.
If the devices which the system has selected by default don’t work as it is described in the test manual, choose another device from the drop-down list and repeat the tests.
Network Setup
To change network settings choose the option Setup > Network.
Please note! It’s recommended to use the default settings.
The Network Settings dialog box is divided into several sections:
Server
Suppress direct connection(Not recommended)
By selecting this option you make all conference media data stream through TrueConf servers even if direct (peer-to-peer) connection is possible.
Firewall/Proxy
Default settings
We recommend using the default firewall/proxy settings, to let the system automatically set the firewall/proxy parameters based on your Microsoft Windows configuration. Sometimes, it is necessary to configure your firewall/proxy settings manually. In this case, we recommend consulting your system administrator on how to use the Advanced setup option.
Bandwidth Control
This option allows of imposing limitation on the acceptable values of the network channel resources utilization. The actual bandwidth of the channel, over which the transmission of the signal is conducted depends on the network capabilities and other parameters and can be lower than the claimed maximal values. In the centre of the section there are the previously set channel resources limitations. They are meant to let the video application to transmit incoming and outgoing connection speed respectively.
To change these values choose one of the following alternatives:
Set the limitation by choosing one of the presets from the drop-down list.
Set up manually by moving the necessary sliders or filling in the corresponding fields.
Note: Lower values result in a worse signal quality. To get the highest quality videoconferences you need to have the bandwidth no less than 128 Kb/s in both directions.
Network Test
The Network Test feature enables testing the application connection to the server based on the chosen configuration. It also predicts inbound and outbound bandwidth, as well as, the expected latency that is inherent to your network connection.
Click on the Network Test button to start the test. The results indicate what kind of conference quality you can expect under the current network conditions.
